Post-launch Update #3 Now Available Adding Enmu and Yushiro & Tamayo as Playable Characters

December 16, 2021 - SEGA announced that the Post-launch Update #3 for Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no YaibaThe Hinokami Chronicles, the hit console game based on the anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, is now available.

In this update, the demons, Enmu and Yushiro & Tamayo, have been added as playable characters for Versus Mode.

Enmu’s attacks have a long reach due to the way he uses his hands, and he is also good at chasing people down with projectiles. Yushiro & Tamayo are both demons, but Yushiro is the main fighter for this special pair.

This update now adds a 60 fps setting for online battles with other players. New Online Missions, new Rewards, such as new Quotes and Profile Photos, as well as some minor bug fixes are also included.

Enmu (Voiced by: Daisuke Hirakawa)

Lower One of the Twelve Kizuki who serve under Kibutsuji’s direct command, Enmu has a twisted personality and savors the sight of people's sorrow and grief. After being granted blood from Kibutsuji himself, he attacked Tanjiro and the other Demon Slayers who went aboard the Mugen Train.

◆Battle Features

Enmu is skilled at deploying long-range assaults as well as projectiles that can stop an opponent in their tracks. His Light Attacks and Throw both have a considerable range, allowing him to fight while keeping his opponents at arm’s length.

When a Skill is used to obstruct an opponent’s movement, repel an opponent’s attack, hit the opponent, or even counter the opponent’s defense, it becomes an opportunity to utilize a Demon Skill. There are two different ranges and activation times for these Demon Skills, but none can be blocked. They work best when employed to infiltrate your opponent’s head.

◆Enmu Combo Examples

Light Attack x4 (□>□>□>□) > Skill 2 (→△) > Light Attack x4 (□>□>□>□) > Throw (R1+□)

Enmu’s fundamental combo finishes with a throw.

Skill 2’s intrinsic time gap makes it easier to launch your opponent into the air, allowing you to grab and throw them.

Skill 2 (→△) > Light Attack x4 (□>□>□>□) > Skill 2 (→△) > Chase Dash (○) > Aerial Attack x2 (□>□) > Ultimate Art (R2)

The time gap from Skill 2 connects the middle and conclusion of this combo, and it’s crucial to launch your opponent into the air with this delay to effectively end the combo with the Ultimate Art.

Yushiro & Tamayo

(Voiced by: Daiki Yamashita, Maaya Sakamoto)

Tamayo researches demons with the hope of taking revenge on Kibutsuji, the man who turned her into one.

Yushiro is a young man whose life was saved by Tamayo by turning him into a demon - her only successful attempt thus far in her research.

◆Battle Features

Yushiro and Tamayo act as a team, with Yushiro as the primary fighter.

Yushiro has the ability to strike while dodging his opponent’s attacks, as well as Skills that allow him to attack while warding them off, letting him to “leap-frog” into the lead during encounters. Tamayo, who has her own demonic features, may also be summoned by utilizing a Demon Skill, which allows each character to maintain their feeling of individuality while battling as a team.

◆Yushiro & Tamayo Combo Example

Skill 2 (→△) > Skill 1 (△) > Skill 3 (R1+△) > Chase Dash (〇) > Aerial Attack x1 (□) > Demon Skill 1 (L1) > Aerial Attack x2 (□)

This combo includes a Demon Skill, which Demon Skill 1 should preferably be used in between the two Aerial Attacks.

●Skill 3 (R1+△) > Chase Dash (〇) > Aerial Attack x2 (□・□) > Skill 1 (△) > Skill 2 (→△) > Ultimate Art (R2)

This combo finishes with an Ultimate Art, and Skill 2 should be performed before the Ultimate Art while moving towards your opponent with the left stick.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles, the game based on the animated series that first aired in April 2019, features two modes that allow you to dive into the world of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Adventure Mode allows you to control Tanjiro and experience the events from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc to Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train, while Versus Mode lets you assemble a team of two of your favorite characters and battle against other players!

<Adventure Mode>

This game includes the events of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc where Tanjiro began his journey, joined the Demon Slayer Corps, and fought a variety of demons, as well as Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train where he was accompanied by the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku.

You will be able to enjoy the battles against demons portrayed in the anime and brought to life in this game with incredible graphics!

<Versus Mode>

12 characters from the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime, including Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado, as well as 6 characters from the series’ official spinoff, Junior High and High School!! Kimetsu Academy Story, will join the Versus Mode. You can choose any combination of 2 characters from a total of 18 characters to take part in battles!

Characters can be paired together as they were in the anime, or you can form a dream team that has never appeared in the anime. Build your ideal team to enjoy the battles!

Also, as part of free Post-launch Updates, Rui & Akaza (Update #1), Yahaba & Susamaru (Update #2), as well as Enmu & Yushiro/Tamayo (Update #3) have been added as playable characters for Versus Mode.

About the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Anime

The animated adaptation of Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga series from Shueisha Jump Comics has now sold over 150 million copies of volumes 1~23 in total. The show, which originally began broadcast in April 2019, follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a boy whose family was slaughtered by a demon while his own sister, Nezuko, was turned into one herself. Tanjiro Kamado joined the Demon Slayer Corps to find a way to turn his sister back into a human. This adventure exploded in popularity not only in Japan but also around the world, as it portrayed the heartrending ties between humans and demons and a ghastly swashbuckler while having moments of comic relief.

Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train, premiered in October 2020 in Japan, and later worldwide, directly follows the events of the anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc. In Japan, the movie was seen by 29.05 million people and grossed ¥40.1 billion in box office revenue, with totals of around ¥51.7 billion and 41.35 million viewers in 45 regions around the world. Finally, on December 5, 2021, the anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc started airing in Japan.
